Summary:
This paper is a short review of how to formulate operational aims and objectives for courses and training programs in medicine. Competence is defined and necessary epistemology is outlined. Bloom´s taxonomy of knowledge is sketched together with the SOLO taxonomy and Tyler´s taxonomy for learning experiences. The author recommends for medical courses and programmes that outcome should be described as competences rather than content.
