Titel: Fotsjukdomar [summary] (serie: Tema ortopediska operationer) 2007 nr 19 sid 1514-6

Summary:
At least 16 000 foot surgical procedures were performed in Sweden in 2004. The average waiting time for elective foot surgery was 6-9 months in 2005. There is a great variation in incidence of performed foot procedures in the counties in Sweden and the waiting time for surgery varies from 1-40 months in different hospitals. International consensus is the base for treatment of most surgical procedures used. However, the evidence grade is quite low for many procedures. A continuous, standardised follow-up of outcome after foot surgery, preferably in a national quality register is recommended. Priority criteria capable of assessing and comparing the need for and the relative urgency of surgery for patients on waiting lists may lead to increased fairness in treatment and in time to surgery.
